Behind today's team stands a much larger group of alumni — exchange students and local volunteers who ran the association before moving on, and who still make up a large part of the ESN Zürich story.
Three decades of handovers.
Nobody stays on an ESN board for long — that is the point. Each team runs the section for a year or two, then trains the next one.
- Pre-2010
Two separate sections
For over a decade, ESN UNI Zürich and ESN ETH Zürich operated as two independent sections, each serving their respective student bodies with dedicated volunteer teams.
- 2010
The Great Merger
The two sections joined forces to become a single registered association under Swiss law. This unified structure allowed for better coordination and a stronger presence across the city.

A city-wide community
Now serving students from UZH, ETH, ZHdK, PHZH, and FH Ost, ESN Zürich has grown into one of the largest sections in the network, delivering hundreds of events annually with a massive, diverse team.
